- August's Full Moon is traditionally known as the Sturgeon Moon, a name originating from North American Indigenous communities, where this was the season sturgeon were most readily caught. While the name reflects the Northern Hemisphere, this Full Moon is a symbol of perseverance, wisdom and trusting the steady progress that comes from patience and persistence.
The moon's energy is strongest around three days before and after each phase, offering a beautiful window to connect with your intuition and refresh your energy.
The moon phases hold powerful energy for emotional healing, intention setting, and spiritual alignment. The New Moon brings the perfect opportunity to begin anew, plant seeds of intention, and focus inward. The Full Moon, on the other hand, encourages release, clarity, and energetic clearing.
Lions Gate Portal
The Lion's Gate Portal is observed each year between 26th July and 12th August, reaching its peak on 8th August.
The Lions Gate Portal is inspired by the heliacal rising of Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky, as it first becomes visible above the eastern horizon before sunrise. This celestial event held great significance in Ancient Egypt, where the return of Sirius coincided with the annual flooding of the Nile, symbolising renewal, abundance and the beginning of a new year. Occurring as the Sun journeys through Leo, the Lion's Gate Portal also draws upon the lion's long-standing symbolism of courage, confidence and personal strength.
These celestial events together symbolise the opening of an energetic gateway, creating a meaningful time for reflection, intention setting and welcoming new beginnings.
